Baby John Movie Review | Varun Dhawan | Keerthy Suresh | Wamiqa Gabbi | Jackie Shroff
Introduction
Hello guys, I am Ghulam Muhiudeen, and you are watching Funserda, a Project of All Movies For All. Today is 25 December, and I wish you a happy Christmas. I just watched Varun Dhavan‘s latest movie, Baby John, so this is a review of Baby John, and I will tell you how to watch Baby John on your mobile. First of all, start with its history.
Vijay Thal’s Turning Point
In 2015, Vijay Thalpati gave his last flop film. The name of the film was Puli. It was a fantasy drama on a hefty budget, which was able to make its mark with difficulty. After this film, Vijay realized and made some changes in his way of working.
Rise to Stardom
After this, he became such a superstar in front of whom it was not possible to stand. It started with the film Theri, released in 2016, which was directed by Atlee Kumar. Since then, no Vijay film has been shown on the screen.
The Hindi Remake: Baby John
Eight years later, the same Atlee Kumar, as a producer, has remade Vijay’s Theri in Hindi. The name of this film is Baby John.
Types of Remakes
There are many ways to remake a film. Some filmmakers remake a film in a spiritual way. Some tell the same story in their own way. And some filmmakers, in the name of remaking, copy the films scene by scene.
Baby John’s Approach
Baby John is the third type of remake. The story is a story; even the makers have not changed the names of some of the characters in the film. For example, the son of the main villain in the film is named Ashwin in Theri and remains Ashwin in Baby John.
The Story of Baby John
If you haven’t seen Theri, here is the story of Baby John in brief. There is a policeman named Satya Verma who lives with his mother in Mumbai. He gets married, and a child is born. In the midst of all this, a famous gangster of the city gets involved with Nanaji. Satya’s entire family is destroyed in his revenge. Satya and his daughter somehow manage to escape.
Now Satya makes an excuse for his death for his daughter’s safety. He changes his name and look and shifts to another part of the country. But the news of this reaches Nanaji. He calls Satya and threatens him again. Now Satya has two options: either he keeps running away from Nanaji to save his daughter’s life, or he kills Nanaji and ends this whole story.
A Typical Masala Entertainer
What does the man think of this? You know which path the hero of a Hindi film will choose. Satya chooses that path. Baby John is a proper Masala entertainer. The film is choreographed well. There are a lot of action sequences, dialogue, comedy, and romance.
Challenges of Remakes
One challenge for Baby John is the availability of Theri on OTT platforms in many languages. Why would someone watch a remake of a film they have already enjoyed in their preferred language?
Comparison with Other Remakes
In recent times, Kartik Aaryan’s film Shehzada faced a similar issue. It was a remake of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, a blockbuster that introduced Allu Arjun as a star. The availability of the original film on platforms like YouTube affected the remake’s success.
Casting and Performance
The choice of actors plays a crucial role in any film. But in a remake, the biggest decision is choosing the lead actor. Baby John’s makers chose Varun Dhawan. Varun is a sincere actor who has played various roles in his career. His work in Baby John is fine, but audiences will repeatedly compare him to Thalapathy Vijay.
Varun doesn’t yet have the stardom and aura that Vijay possesses. This becomes apparent in Baby John, especially in key moments.
Standout Moments
One moment in the film stands out, just before the climax. This film’s most magical scene and dialogue come from Rajpal Yadav’s part. Rajpal, known for comic roles, proves that comedy is serious business.
Weaknesses of Baby John
One of the film’s shortcomings is the inclusion of some unnecessary scenes that don’t connect to the story and only increase its length. If these had been removed, the film would have been crisper.
Final Thoughts
Baby John is not a boring film. It offers all the spices that viewers have already tasted. However, this is also its biggest drawback.
A Unique Treatment
The most interesting aspect of Baby John is that instead of bringing Tamil cinema to Mumbai, they took Mumbai to Tamil Nadu. This film is treated entirely like a South Indian film. If you enjoy over-the-top action thrillers, you will like Baby John.
Baby John Movie Watch Online
Dosto Baby John movie is co-declared. It is going to be the most super duper hit movie of Varun Dhawan’s career.
Questions from Fans
But many fans had a question: How can we watch this movie online? On which OTT platform will this movie be released? And on which date will it be?
Release Platform and Timeline
As soon as the movie completes two weeks, all the fans will find out which OTT platform it will come on. Since it is a fresh movie, no OTT platform has been announced here yet.
Conclusion
Otherwise, friends, how excited you are to watch this movie. Baby John is good to watch; if you haven’t watched their movie, then it’s a good movie to spend your time. There are some key moments for the artistic experience. Rest; it was our opinion. What do you think? Please tell us in the comment box.
This review gives a comprehensive overview of Baby John, its background, and how it compares to the original film Theri. Here’s a quick analysis of the key points covered:
Positives:
- Historical Context: The review provides useful background on Vijay Thalapathy’s career trajectory, the success of Theri, and its influence on Baby John.
- Clear Explanation: The comparison between remake types and how Baby John closely follows the third approach (scene-by-scene copy) is well explained.
- Casting Analysis: The honest comparison of Varun Dhawan’s performance with Vijay’s and the challenges he faces as a remake lead is insightful.
- Rajpal Yadav’s Moment: Highlighting Rajpal Yadav’s standout moment in the film adds a unique touch to the review.
- Masala Entertainment: Acknowledging the film’s genre and its over-the-top action sequences helps set the right audience expectations.
Negatives:
- Weak Points of the Film: Unnecessary scenes affecting the film’s pacing are a valid critique but could use specific examples for better clarity.
- Overuse of Comparisons: While comparisons with Theri are inevitable, repeatedly emphasizing them might deter audiences unfamiliar with the original.
Suggestions for Improvement:
- Balance of Analysis: The review could benefit from a bit more focus on the unique aspects of Baby John rather than focusing solely on how it compares to Theri.
- Recommendation: Instead of saying it’s “good if you haven’t watched Theri,” a deeper dive into what makes it enjoyable for Hindi-speaking audiences would be helpful.
- Streaming Details: Although the OTT platform isn’t confirmed, sharing a potential timeline or discussing expectations for OTT releases could keep fans informed.
Overall, this review is engaging and caters well to fans of action-packed remakes, though it might feel overly comparative for those new to Theri.
